As a kid, Christmas was pure magic. The anticipation of Santa’s visit, the twinkling lights, and the joy of waking up to presents under the tree made it the most enchanting time of the year. Every moment was filled with wonder and excitement, from decorating the tree to writing letters to Santa. The world seemed to sparkle just a little bit more during the holiday season.

Now, as an adult, the magic of Christmas has taken on a different form. It’s no longer about Santa and presents, but about the warmth of togetherness and the spirit of giving. The joy now comes from creating those magical moments for others, seeing the excitement in children’s eyes, and spending quality time with loved ones. It’s about the comfort of traditions, like baking cookies, cozying up with a good holiday movie, and simply enjoying the company of family and friends.

This year, however, the holiday season is a bit more challenging. Having left my family and coming to terms with the fact that some of my family members don’t like me has made this time of year harder and still hurts. The feeling of being apart from loved ones and dealing with the pain of strained relationships has brought a different kind of heaviness to the holiday cheer.
Despite these challenges, I’m learning to find new ways to embrace the season. It’s about finding solace in the small moments of joy, connecting with friends who feel like family, and creating new traditions that bring comfort and happiness. The feeling of Christmas has evolved, but the essence remains the same—love, joy, and a sense of wonder. It’s a time to reflect on the past, cherish the present, and look forward to the future. While the childlike magic has transformed, the heart of Christmas continues to shine brightly, filling our lives with warmth and happiness.
