Ever since the breakup in 2021, I’ve learned to guard my heart. Trusting and opening up to people feels like setting myself up for hurt. It’s been a tough journey, but it’s also been a learning experience.

I had a great guy once. He was kind, caring, and everything I thought I wanted. But somewhere along the way, I started losing myself, trying to become what he wanted. It was a slow process, and by the time I realized it, I felt like a stranger in my own life. He was a great guy, though. Except for that one time he forgot my birthday. That stung.

And then there’s the time I texted Josh, my ex from high school. Nothing happened, but it was a moment of weakness. We won’t talk about that.
Now, I’m talking to someone new. He’s great and different from the other guys I’ve dated. There’s something refreshingly normal about him. I didn’t go looking for him—he found me. It’s a new and hopeful chapter, and I’m curious to see where it leads.
Dating has been a bitch, but it’s also taught me a lot about myself. I’m still figuring things out, but I’m hopeful for the future.
