If you have been a long-time reader, you would know I’ve had a few exes! And, of course, they have left me with self-doubt and definitely PTSD but also some great wisdom on what I don’t want in a guy! So, let’s dive into the pearls of wisdom my exes have graciously imparted:
Ex 1: Josh We all know Josh. He was a guy I dated when I was 19, almost 20, and he was like 30. He was fine, like he was there for me, but then later it was sex he wanted. Like yeah, I love it, but also maybe date me before you fuck me. He’s also the ex I kept texting years later. So maybe I’m the problem.

Ex 2: The FWB Guy This guy was someone who was more like a friend with benefits. He was really nice but kept bringing up his wife a lot!!!! Like they were in an open marriage, but if we are out or in bed, maybe don’t bring up your wife.
Ex 3: The Mental Manipulator He was the one that did the most mental damage to me. He literally made everything my fault. Forgot my birthday. Then, when I had a really bad day, he blocked my number because he didn’t want to deal with me. Like bitch, what the fuck.

Ex 4: The Obsessed One This guy was really nice. But after a few weeks of talking, he became very obsessed with me. Like if I didn’t message him right away, he would get mad. Or if he saw I liked something on Twitter after I said I was going to bed, he would be mad I lied to him. So that didn’t last long.
Ex 5: The Short-Lived Bitch This was only a few weeks, but he was a bitch. He couldn’t handle that I had a life before him.
Ex 6: The Nice Guy As Taylor Swift said, “I broke his heart because he was nice.” He was really nice, but at some point, it felt like I was turning myself into what he wanted and losing myself. But it wasn’t his fault. He tried to make sure that didn’t happen, but I couldn’t stop it.
In the end, each of these delightful gentlemen has taught me invaluable lessons—mostly about how I Regret dating them. Here’s to future relationships where I won’t need a PhD in emotional resilience or a minor in crisis management!
