Okay, so this was not how I expected the day to goâbut it turned out to be one of the best days ever.

Me and Izzy went to MOSI! (Thatâs the Museum of Science & Industry, for anyone who doesnât know.) I hadnât been since I was like 10 years old so yeah, over 17 years ago. Which is wild. I used to go all the time with my grandma, and it was one of those core childhood memories that just stuck. So getting to go again, this time with Izzy, felt like a full-circle moment in the best way.
And hereâs the kicker: it wasnât even planned.
It was the same day as our nieceâs first birthday⌠the one we werenât invited to. So I got to Izzyâs place around noon, and she hit me with a âsoooo I have an idea.â Next thing I know, sheâs got tickets and weâre heading to MOSI like two chaotic people on a mission.

Now, Izzyâs basically a MOSI pro she takes the kids there on field trips all the time. So she knew exactly where to go, what exhibits were worth the hype, and most importantly⌠where the air conditioning hits just right. She was like my personal tour guide, pointing out all the cool stuff and sneaky spots to chill when the Florida heat started creeping in. I felt like I had VIP access to the museum thanks to her.
We spent a few hours there just soaking it all in. Playing games, trying different activities, geeking out over cool exhibits it was pure joy. The kind of joy that sneaks up on you when you need it most.

One of my favorite moments? Izzy got me a little brain plush that shows dyslexia (because duh, I have it). She also grabbed one for insomnia, which felt hilariously accurate. It was thoughtful and silly and perfect just like her.
Honestly, I canât wait to go back. It reminded me how much I love learning and exploring, especially when itâs with someone who makes everything feel like an adventure. We laughed so much, took way too many pictures, and made a memory that Iâll hold onto forever.
So yeah, we may have been uninvited from a birthday party, but we threw ourselves a celebration of our own. And it was magic.
