and I have a thing now a yearly MOSI trip. She surprised me with it last year, which was already a dream, but this year? This year was chaos, Applebee’s, Dollar Tree, Target, and a planetarium show that absolutely was NOT the one I picked. So let’s talk about my amazing Saturday with Izzy.
MOSI — Museum of Science & Innovation is this super fun hands‑on museum with science exhibits, games, and a planetarium. It’s for kids, adults, and people like me who still act like kids when handed anything interactive.
🌙 The Morning Chaos
I got home from Izzy’s at like… 2am. Immediately crashed. We planned to be up at 9, at Izzy’s by 9:30, and leaving at 10.
Reality: I opened my eyes at 10, rolled out of bed like a gremlin, and got to Izzy’s around 10:30 with my entire makeup bag and half my bathroom. Getting ready at her place was honestly half the fun talking, laughing, trying to wake up like normal humans.
We finally left around noon. Classic.
🌌 Planetarium Shenanigans
With MOSI tickets, you get a planetarium show. I picked Above and Beyond because it was space‑themed and I’m dramatic like that. The show time was supposed to be 2:45… but our tickets said 1:00. Suspicious behavior from the universe already.
We walked around first because there were so many people, and I get overwhelmed when it’s too crowded. MOSI is huge though, so once we got used to the vibe, it was actually really nice.
Then 1:00 hit. Planetarium time.
I haven’t been in one since I was a kid, so the moment the lights went down I felt lightheaded like, “ohhh we’re doing this again.” Like I genuinely felt like I was going to fall, pass out, or ascend to another dimension. Izzy was judging me AND making sure to inform our entire friend group about it… loudly.
The show? Not the one I picked. It was about planes. And the ending got weirdly intense and dramatic, and I could NOT stop laughing. Izzy was judging me but also laughing, so it’s fine. Honestly it felt like we were in hell at one point… I did NOT understand it…..
🚀 Exploring MOSI
After that, we went back into the museum and did everything. Took a million photos. Played every game. The moon landing area was our favorite cold, dark, and full of things to touch and buttons to press. Peak happiness.
We looked at everything. We played with everything. I think we did more than the kids. Izzy got a keychain, I got a 3D‑printed cow, and I grabbed my dad some stickers.
There was a dinosaur section, and I LOVE the little stop‑motion video station where you can make your own. So me and Izzy were doing ours, being adorable, and then a kid came over, took the dino, and hit Izzy. Chaos at MOSI, as always.
We even built little planes in a game and flew them. That was cool. I won. I will be bragging about this forever.
🍎 Applebee’s, Target, Dollar Tree The Holy Trinity
After MOSI, we were starving. Beginning of the month = Applebee’s tradition. It was so good, and we sat there looking through all our photos!
Then we walked to Target. I wasn’t planning on buying anything… but then I saw a book I’ve been wanting. I was going to get it on Kindle as my reward for hitting my reading goal, but seeing it in person? Immediate “I need the real book.” It’s adorable. It’s a romcom. And yes, I’ll do a book club post on it.
Dollar Tree was next. I spent $50 but it was cleaning stuff and a few things for my dad, so I’m counting it as responsible.
Then we went back to her place and just hung out. Honestly, I always have fun with Izzy even if we never leave her room. But this Saturday was one of those days that just felt full and happy and exactly what I needed.
