Hiii besties, it has been a hot minute since I did a book club post! But your girl has been reading, and today we’re talking about Heart Eyes a dark, obsessive, trauma‑bonded romance that grabbed me by the throat and did not let go.

📖 About the Book
Heart Eyes follows Kat and Liam two people connected by a childhood moment that changed both of their lives. Fourteen years ago, Kat found Liam as a little boy: hungry, scared, silent, and desperately needing someone. She became his friend, the one person who made him feel safe. Then something terrible happened, and they were torn apart.
Kat grew up thinking that chapter of her life was over. Liam never forgot. Not for a second.
When he unexpectedly sees her again as an adult, he’s terrified she won’t remember him… but he remembers everything. He’s content watching from the shadows, protecting her quietly, until he realizes someone else is watching her too — someone dangerous, someone tied to their past, someone who wants Kat to pay for what happened all those years ago.
And Liam? He will burn the world down before he lets anything happen to her.

🔥 Tropes & Themes
This book is DARK, so here’s what you’re walking into:
• Historic child abuse • Explicit intimacy • Unhinged actions • Dubious consent • Forced intimacy • Violence • Kidnapping • Murder • Dark romance • Trauma bonding • Scarred & tattooed MMC • Masked stalker • Has loved her for fourteen years • Fights to the death for her • Unhinged obsession
It’s definitely one of those “check the warnings first” books.
💬 My Review
This book had a hold on me. I love a good lost‑love, childhood‑bond type of story, and this one delivered. The moment Liam reveals he counted the exact time since he last saw her?
“Fourteen years. One month. Two weeks. Three days. Fifteen hours. Thirty‑three minutes.”
My chest. My soul. My entire spirit left my body.
That line alone made me obsessed.

The backstory is soft and heartbreaking in a way that makes you fall in love with both of them. Their reconnection after so many years apart? So sweet. The fact that neither of them ever forgot the other? I don’t even have the right words it’s just yearning in its purest form.
I loved the pacing. The flashbacks to their childhood added so much depth. Liam was protective, possessive, but also shy and vulnerable in a way that made him feel real. Kat was strong, caring, and had her own quiet resilience. Their dynamic felt intense but also tender.
The mystery element who the stalker was, what exactly happened when they were kids kept me hooked. I didn’t want to put it down. The characters felt human, flawed, and growing. And when Effie announced there will be a second book? Yeah, I screamed. I will absolutely be reading it.
I originally rated this 4 stars… but honestly? I was wrong. This is a 5‑star read for me. Spice level: 3/5 enough to add tension without overtaking the story.
Okay byeee, love you, go drink water and do something gentle for yourself today 💗
